Thanks. Maybe I will use it for that later. Did you get the reflections picture that I emailed you?

Beautiful. I love the shady tones. It looks more like a carefully composed painting than a photo because it's all so perfect. Great capture.
:iconmoonfullofstars:
P.S. I've saved it to my wallpapers folder as I think it'll be perfect when I'm in that forest mood :D

Thanks, and thanks for the fave on it too. It is great to hear from you again. Yea, I intentionally went on an overcast day so the the contrast level would not be so high and I think it payed off nicely on this one.

Yes, that's exactly it, low contrast. Personally, I always have so much trouble shooting these shady forest shots. Maybe it's because I try to do it when there's too much dynamic range (i.e. it's a bit sunny). They either come out looking too bright or too dark (and desaturated). I don't know, do you have any tips? I should be using a higher ISO perhaps?
:iconmidolluin:
The easy solution is to shoot when it is overcast, but if that is not possible then another option is to use a tripod (so that the camera does not move in between shots) and bracket the exposure and then use a HDR program to merge them together. A different ISO will not really help. A shorter or longer exposure is really only relevant with regards to movement blur, either from hand holding or from the subject moving, like leaves in the wind. The problem here is too much contrast range and the only solution that I am aware of is to either reduce that range (cloudy day) or augment the camera's capability of capturing the range (bracketing and HDR. Other than that you pick what is most important to you in the pic and expose for that and you will lose the high end or the low end, depending on where in the range you chose to expose for.
